About My Recording Studio

I record using the Neumann TLM 49 studio condenser microphone. This microphone has a warm sound, and is optimized for vocal recordings. It uses the capsule of Neumann's legendary M49 and U47 studio microphones.

I use Mackie's 820i mixer, with A Designs P1 mic pre-amp, carefully designed to produce the sound of the famous Pacifica pre, which takes mic level signals up to line level signals cleanly and clearly. The Mackie converts the analog signal to digital line signal which is recorded in Adobe Audition CS6. Audition can produce audio files in all commonly used formats including wav, aif, flac, ogg, mov and mp3. Audition runs on an Apple MacBook Pro running OS X 10.11 and Intel's Core i7 processor, with 16 gigabytes of RAM.

For long-form narration, I record to Pro Tools 12.  I occasionally use iZotope's Engineering Emmy winning RX5 Advanced for processing audio files. I master finished audio using iZotope's Ozone 7.

I record in a WhisperRoom so I'm able to produce pristine audio files.  My studio is equipped with phone patch and Apple Facetime so you may provide real-time direction to me as I record your audio.

Because I work from my own studio, I can turn projects around quickly. Average sized projects can be completed within 24 hours, but rush work can be produced within two to four hours when necessary to meet your deadlines.

When recording is completed, I'll provide you with a link to a Box.com folder where you can quickly download your wav or mp3 files, and put them to work.
